This is a project I submitted for my motion graphics class in May of 2023. I adore the book, The Overstory, by author Richard Powers. When I knew I would be animating text, I knew I wanted an excerpt from that novel, and I even found audio of him reading it at an arboretum. I included text that animates with the flow of the words, as well as invoking a certain imagery. I was inspired by the vintage typography and imagery on the Vintage Earth edition of the novel. So, I invoked glowing, fading twilight colors, a starry night, and stretching silhouettes. I was pretty pleased with my final product, and it was even shown in the department showcase.
